Training Staff to Promote Children's Development

Staff at The Goslings are committed to continually improving and updating their knowledge and understanding of all areas to enhance their learning and development for your children.

All regular staff members have completed Paediatric First Aid and ensure that the safety of your children is at the forefront of their minds. All accidents and injuries that occur in the setting are documented and we make a note of any previous injuries that a child may come into the setting with. Asthma plans are created for children with asthma, and these are regularly discussed with all staff.

Keeping up-to-date with any safeguarding is an extremely important part of preschool training. Julie is the setting's Designated Safeguarding Lead, with Jane as the Deputy. All staff have completed Basic Safeguarding Awareness training; Julie and Jane have completed additional 'Role of the DSL' training and Julie attends termly clusters to ensure that any new information is passed on to all staff.

In July, Michelle took on the role of the setting's Special Educational Needs Coordinator (SENCO). To ensure she can fulfil this role effectively, Michelle has since undertaken a comprehensive Level 3 Early Years SENCO course that has been completed over the last 4 months. Michelle has put in a lot of extra work to complete this course in order to ensure that any SEND needs we may have in the setting are dealt with in a correct and timely manner. Michelle is the SEND Co-ordinator and Julie is the Deputy.

Mandy and Jane are still on course to complete their Level 3 Early Years Educator qualification in 2024. They have been working hard to do extra training and have professional discussions. On occasion, their assessor will come into the setting to observe them so you may see them in preschool.

Following our last Ofsted report, we have secured some behaviour and curriculum training with Cheshire East, our local authority. They have been a great help to us as we have sought to improve various aspects of the preschool, particularly with regards to training and developing our curriculum.
