Being healthy has been our theme and focus for this week.
The children have been practising washing their hands properly, rather than putting one under the tap and saying done. We talked about how germs can cling to hands if we don’t use soap and they have watched the pepper germs move away when a drop of soap was added to a bowl containing water with pepper on top, hopefully encouraging them to use soap to wash with.
Each day we have been shopping for healthy food, filling baskets and learning the names of food items that may not be familiar to them. The children used fruit and vegetables to print pictures, although many personalised them with finger and hand prints. Perhaps you could talk with your child about the foods that make us healthy and strong when out shopping?
We talked about getting lots of sleep as that is when our bodies fix and grow and the importance of staying hydrated. In the afternoons we have been exercising with Peppa Pig and Mr Potato, and the children have joined in very enthusiastically. The younger we begin practicing a healthy lifestyle, the more likely we are to stick to it, reaping the benefits for the rest of our lives.
You've done a fantastic job of teaching them as Isaac has repeated these lessons to me. He's told me that he needs soap to "wash away the nasties", has been asking which foods are healthy and has told me that sleep makes him big and strong (a big thank you for that one!).
Well done team!
