From the 7th March to the 16th March 2025 it has been British Science Week and as such, the Goslings has had the “Mad Scientist” visit the setting. The children have had lots of fun this week doing experiments looking at some of the renewable and non-renewable energy sources.
We have looked at solar energy, where we made a solar oven and cooked nachos with cheese. It was placed outside and left for a few hours in the sun for it to melt the cheese. The children would go up to it every now and again to check on its progress. The children then ate this for their afternoon snack.

We have looked at wind energy and we made a handmade car move by air. The children loved this experiment. We also put up a windsock so the children could see which way the wind was blowing.
We looked at hydro energy where the children all had a go at making a water wheel move round.
We also did a few experiments around static electricity using balloons. The children went fishing using a balloon to catch the fish. We mixed salt and pepper together and again using a balloon separated the pepper from the salt as the pepper jumpedA fun week was had from the Mad Scientist. on to the balloon via static electricity. We also made lots of gloop and I apologise for the state some of the children came home.
