Boom Time for Bugs!

During the summer, the children have discovered many different mini beasts at preschool, including an elephant hawk moth caterpillar; a really amazing looking creature!

As official autumn approaches this week, bugs are booming and the early morning dew is making the spiderwebs stand out; see how many your child can spot and don’t forget to look for the spiders - point out the patterns and maybe sing 'Incy Wincy Spider'. You can also look out for crane flies (daddy long legs) as they are abundant at the moment; see how many your child can find.

Julie has managed to get hold of an amazing bag of bug goodies from the Edina Trust. Designed specifically for early years outdoor exploration, the Edina Explores kit includes binoculars, jumbo magnifiers, butterfly nets, jumbo tweezers and magnifying pots that will help our children to explore our outdoor areas and learn about the creatures living nearby. I can’t wait to see what the children can find with them! Happy bug hunting!
