We have been very busy this half term getting to know all the new starters at preschool and focusing on our topic of 'All About Me'. We have been learning a lot about the children, their families, pets and homes. They made family trees and faces of themselves that have been displayed in preschool; some amazing hair colours were chosen. We even went for a walk around Winterley to look at the different types of houses that people live in and had an exciting time watching the house next door being knocked down, diggers everywhere.
The children have really enjoyed the space topic we have been doing and sang “Five Little Men in a Flying Saucer” daily. We even made a role play space rocket for them to fly off to the moon which was in the office in the dark with a star light display, and the children went in with their telescopes to see the stars and planets. We finished the half term by doing some experiments and making lots of Halloween crafts to take home; they have been very busy.
Next half term we are going to be doing the topic Traditional Tales, and we will also be talking about Bonfire Night, fireworks and how to stay safe. We will talk about Remembrance Day with the children and will also be doing lots of Christmas crafts. We will be practising for the preschool nativity and all of the letters have now gone out with your child’s part attached.
We will be visiting the pigs on Friday 8th November to take them all the old chopped up pumpkins that nobody needs anymore, so please send yours in to preschool this week ready for us to wheel round to the pigs on Friday.
Also, if you can please remember to bring your bags of old clothes into preschool before Friday, we can get these weighed and raise some money for preschool and Leukaemia & Myeloma Research UK.
We will be having a Christmas party on Tuesday 17th December for all children, which will be our last day of preschool before Christmas. We will return on Monday 6th January 2025!
